Job Summary:

 Belcan is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to be filled at any of the three locations; Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, Fort Carson, CO, or Fort Hood, TX. 

The Senior Systems Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for designing, integrating, securing, and sustaining complex enterprise‑level systems across diverse environments. This role oversees full lifecycle engineering-from requirements analysis and architecture development to implementation, optimization, and long‑term maintenance. The engineer provides expert‑level troubleshooting, leads system modernization initiatives, and ensures all platforms meet performance, cybersecurity, and interoperability standards. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners, the Senior Systems Engineer drives technical decision‑making, mentors junior engineers, and ensures seamless integration of hardware, software, networks, and cloud‑based solutions. The position requires advanced analytical skills, mastery of systems engineering principles, and the ability to manage multiple high‑impact projects in a fast‑paced environment. The engineer also provides support for all other duties and tasks requested by the local PM representative.

Job Duties:

  • Lead the design, integration, security, and sustainment of complex enterprise‑level systems across multiple environments.
  • Oversee full lifecycle systems engineering, including requirements analysis, architecture development, implementation, testing, optimization, and long‑term maintenance.
  • Provide expert‑level troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for hardware, software, network, and cloud‑based systems.
  • Drive system modernization initiatives and ensure all platforms meet performance, cybersecurity, and interoperability standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to support system integration and technical decision‑making.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across engineering activities and project teams.
  • Ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, network infrastructure, and cloud technologies within enterprise architectures.
  • Manage multiple high‑impact engineering projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, engineering plans, system diagrams, and configuration baselines.
  • Conduct risk assessments, evaluate system vulnerabilities, and support implementation of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, developers, and test teams to validate system functionality and resolve interoperability issues.
  • Support testing, evaluation, and verification of new capabilities, upgrades, and system enhancements.
  • Provide timely status updates, technical reports, and recommendations to leadership and program stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational, industry, and government engineering standards and policies.
  • Provide support for all other duties and tasks requested by the local PM representative.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain at least an Interim Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain IAT‑II certification within 90 days of hire.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, system integration, or enterprise‑level technical support.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) preferred but not required.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, Security+, Network+, AWS/Azure certifications, or ITIL preferred.
  • Demonstrated mastery of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, architecture design, implementation, and sustainment.
  • Proven experience integrating hardware, software, network, and cloud‑based systems in complex environments.
  • Strong expertise in troubleshooting enterprise systems, including root‑cause analysis across multiple technology layers.
  • Hands‑on experience with cybersecurity best practices, system hardening, and compliance with industry or government security standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple high‑impact projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Knowledge of enterprise network architectures, cloud platforms, virtualization, and containerization technologies
  •  Experience with COMSEC procedures, key management, or secure communications systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners.

 

Compensation:

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position offers a salary range of $95,000-$110,000/year. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline. Benefits offered may include health care, dental, vision, life insurance; 401(k); education assistance; paid time off including PTO, holidays, and any other paid leave required by law.
