Job Summary: The Network Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of network infrastructure to ensure secure and reliable data transmission. This includes managing hardware components such as routers, switches, bridges, multiplexers, and cables, as well as software systems that support file sharing and data communication across various platforms. The role plays a critical part in safeguarding information systems and maintaining uninterrupted network operations.

Job Duties:

  • Configure and optimize firewalls, routers, and switches, including advanced protocols and tunneling configurations
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues with minimal downtime
  • Expand or modify network infrastructure to meet evolving operational needs
  • Implement and maintain system design standards, testing procedures, and quality controls
  • Install and update operating systems and firmware on network devices (e.g., IOS)
  • Deploy and replace network firewalls, routers, and switches as needed
  • Integrate new systems into the existing network environment to ensure seamless operation
  • Monitor network performance and capacity to support system efficiency and uptime
  • Tune network security devices under engineering guidance to enhance protection
  • Patch vulnerabilities to safeguard systems and data against external threats
  • Provide input on network design, infrastructure enhancements, and capacity planning
  • Maintain and test both hardware and software components of the network infrastructure
  • Create and maintain detailed network diagrams that reflect current architecture
  • Accurately document all network changes and configurations

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess at minimum an Interim Secret clearance. 
  • Must be able to obtain an IAT-II certification within the first 90 days of hire and obtain a CCNA withing 6 months of hire
  • 3+ years of experience as a network administrator
  • Knowledge of IT security principles and methods, such as firewalls, demilitarized zones, and encryption
  • Knowledge of remote access tech concepts, Voice over IP (VoIP) and web filtering technologies.

 

Compensation:

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position offers a salary range of $88,000-$95,000/year. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline. Benefits offered may include health care, dental, vision, life insurance; 401(k); education assistance; paid time off including PTO, holidays, and any other paid leave required by law.
